Moms get the call for a well-child visit.

When Francia got a call from an IEHP representative about a new clinic at her local Community Wellness Center (CWC), she took it as her sign to focus on her children’s health. The option for an on-site well-child visit felt like a huge relief.

 

Once she arrived, she realized the experience offered far more than expected. Her children received their health checkups in a warm, welcoming space, and they were also invited to join the Center’s free summer camp.

 

“We were initially called by a representative to come over to IEHP for a wellness check. And I knew it was my sign to come here today. It was really fun and nice,” said Francia, who goes by the nickname Danni. She shared that the CWC staff and clinic providers treated her family very well and lovingly.

 

Her daughter, Alana, added: “I came to IEHP for my wellness check. Now it’s your turn.” Her son, Cristian, said that he came for the fun summer activities..

Easy access to care at the CWCs

Each Tuesday, CWC Riverside hosts a mobile clinic offering wellness checkups for members. IEHP partners with United Lab Services to prepare charts and connect patients with nurse practitioners.

“Our goal is to support families who may have trouble getting in to see their regular providers,” says Cheri Copenhaver, CWC–Riverside coordinator. “When they are completed, all of the information gets sent to their primary care doctor. And we welcome everybody back to our summer events and all of our additional classes.”

Why members are choosing clinic days at the CWCs

Families shared that the clinic experience is both supportive and convenient. Debra, an IEHP member whose son has autism and ADHD, said the clinics give her peace of mind.

“I feel a child needs their checkup. It’s very important… come in and take care of your family because it’s more important than anything,” she shared. “They give you the right resources. And if you’re worried about food in your home, they can help with that, too.”

Another member, Claudia, came to explore what the Center offers.
“I’m here because I got a call to come and check out the Wellness Center,” Claudia said. “I heard it has a lot of good classes.”

 

Her sign to come here was to receiving the call and realizing it was time to try to make better choices and be healthier.
