Healthy Living: My Best Self
Reaching and keeping a healthy weight is vital for health and can help stop many health problems. Whether you are wanting to keep up, lose, or gain weight, we want you to plan for success by giving you the right tools and guidance. We hope that the “Healthy Living: My Best Self” classes will help you on your journey to good health.
There are 4 topics offered. Each class is one-hour.
- Introduction to Healthy Living
Learn how mindful eating cycle can help in food and nutrition choices. We’ll talk about how to keep up a healthy weight, Body Mass Index (BMI) standards, and tools to reach goals.
- Food Knowledge: MyPlate, Portion Sizes, and Cultural Influences
Learn how to use MyPlate as a tool to help in food choices and portion control. Learn how culture influences food choices and how to adapt cultural foods to make them healthier.
- Food Knowledge: Food Labels and Smart Shopping
Learn how to read food labels to name foods high in sodium, fat, and sugar. Learn how to shop for foods that are healthy and low cost.
- Healthy Habits
Learn about healthy habits that can help with quality of life and weight control. We’ll talk about sleep habits, how to handle stress, and exercise.

Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) - Live the Life You Love
Format: Online (small group)
Duration: One year
Ages: 18 years and over
This online year-long lifestyle change program helps you make real changes that last.
During the first 6 months, you will meet weekly with a small online group to learn how to make healthy choices into your life. In the second 6 months, you will meet monthly to practice what you have learned.
No person is alike, so the program will be tailored to meet your needs and honor your customs and values. You will also be paired with a health coach for one year to help you set your goals, such as how to:
- Eat healthier
- Add physical activity into your daily life
- Reduce stress
- Improve problem-solving and coping skills
Studies have shown that those who finish the program can lose weight and prevent Type 2 Diabetes.
