Get your annual flu shot

Give Yourself the Gift of Good Health

Spread the joy this holiday season, not the flu.

Get your flu shot now. As an IEHP member, you can get a FREE flu shot every year.

Who should get the flu shot?

Almost everyone 6 months old and older should get the flu shot. For people at higher risk for flu complications, it’s even more important. This includes members who are:

  • 65 years old or older
  • Pregnant
  • Residents of nursing homes and long-term care facilities.
  • Children, 6 months or older

Don’t forget. It takes up to two weeks after getting the flu shot to be fully protected from the flu. So, don’t wait. Call your doctor today.

Where can I get a free flu shot?

Children must visit their IEHP doctor for their free flu shot.
Adults can go to either their doctor or a network pharmacy like CVS or Walgreens. Be sure to call first.

If you get a flu shot somewhere else, like at work or a clinic, please let your doctor know so your records can be updated.

Eight ways to avoid the flu

Get your free flu shot!

As an IEHP member, you qualify for a free flu shot at your doctor’s office. Adult members can also visit a network pharmacy that offers flu shots.

Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

If someone has the flu, stand at least three feet away.

Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing

to keep germs from spreading in the air.

Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

If you can’t reach a sink, use a hand sanitizer that has at least 60% alcohol.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

Hands touch many surfaces and can pick up viruses.

Clean surfaces that are touched often.

Wipe down doorknobs, phones, keyboards and desks.

Stay home if you’re sick.

If you have a fever, cough or body aches, it’s best to stay home from school, work and errands.

Take care of yourself

by eating healthy foods, getting plenty of sleep, and staying active.
